Picking a “Word of the Year” is something that is popular in the bullet journal community, but I would recommend it to anyone! So, what is a Word of the Year? It’s a word that you pick to set your intentions for the upcoming year. It’s a goal condensed down to it’s simplest form. I mean, it’s pretty easy to just remember ONE word for the year. You can even write it on a card and pin it in your office, tape it to your bathroom mirror, or put it in the beginning of your bullet journal.
How do you pick your Word of the Year? When picking your word, look at what’s going on in your life. What do you already have planned for the new year? What’s going to be happening? And most importantly, how do you WANT your year to go? What do you want to focus on?
So, what’s my word of the year? My word of the year for 2020 is CREATE. I picked this word for several reasons. The most obvious and literal meaning would be to create more art. I feel like I get comfortable in what I think I “can” create and I don’t try new things. So, I’d like to just create as much art as possible. I also want to try new mediums (gouache, acrylic paint, etc).
I also want to create more content for Rae’s Daily Page. I want to not only create MORE, but also different kinds of content. I’d like the give videos a shot again. I also just want to make more blog posts!
On a more personal note, I’d like to create good habits and a healthy body. It feels more doable when you think about creating good habits vs breaking bad habits.
I came up with a list of 30+ word of the year ideas to help y’all pick your own! I honestly had a hard time just picking one for myself because some of them are just so good. You can really set yourself up to have the best year ever if you pick the right word of the year for yourself!
